Long ago, when I used to recycle old computer systems, I pulled out the memory chips "for further use". Now, 40 years later I still have that cardboard box of memory chips, mostly MM2102A type (some of them labeled "1449 1112" with the intel logo at the left side). I'm dreaming of a nice CP/M computer, 4 kB per ECB-card, 16 cards for 64kB, 10A current consumption... Very Happy

But some of the chips are labeled "1449 1104". Has anyone an idea, what the heck that is? The chips have 16 pins, and two lines on the top

1449 1104
S 7650 CK280

The "S" in the second row is a company logo, but I don't know which one.

on the back side are also two rows:

82S10
FY4VC

Any hints?

Ralf

Hi Ralf

It might help if you were to post photos of those chips, as they could be easier to identify that way.

As to the S logo... there was more than one company that used an S, so again... photos could help.

Some S logos are from a few well-known companies [Signetics, Siemens, Siliconix], but there might be S logos from others?

Looking at your logos, I'd say Signetics.
I added images into my original post.

So it should be this one: https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/554145/Signetics/N82S10/1

I will try it with an Arduino, if it matches.

Finally got some time to rewire my arduino powered chip tester for this kind of memory chip. At first it reported only errors. But then I checked the manual more carefully and found out, this chip has o.c. output. So I wired a 5k1 resistor from Dout to +5V and finally the test was positive.

Thanks for your help!

And nice work making a 45 year old chip work with an arduino Smile
