Thanks to Frag_ and Mr Scott I know what this is now haha
AMI 386 MK III w/ CPU and RAM
American Megatrends Series-17 for PC XT with Intel 80386DX-25 and 64 KB of cache (1990). Here it is used the very common chipset Chips & Technologies 82C20x for 286/386 together with two ASICs for cache control. Under the CPU you notice the brown connector for upgrading the processor with a board (daughterboard) i486 that also could support a Weitek 3167/4167

Quick update on the motherboard: it doesn't work. I guess whoever plugged a 286 chip in the 387 socket http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28153 probably killed it. Even an ISA diagnostic card plugged in doesn't detect a BIOS POST code, and the extended diagnostic codes, when looked up in the manual of the diagnostic card, literally say "don't bother trying to repair the motherboard".
If I ever come across a set of that CHIPS chipset I may try to replace them and see if it makes a difference, but chances are slim.
I'll keep it as a piece of art I guess.  |
