it's hard not to consider the price when there is 5 times difference !
Basically you can build very powerful PC based on 6800K for Xeon CPU only price ))
And you should think about the whole machine, not just CPU, that can give you only 5-7% in overall performance difference.
If you have $2K to spare, get i7, good Mobo, GTX1080, 16/32GB Ram, 1TB Ssd, dont' forget good PSU.
That should do it for quite a long time ahead. |

I said to don't consider the price because I found used Xeon for the same price a new 6800K.
And about the parts here you can have a look :

Sell Xeon, make some money and go with 6800 then
All I can comment about configuration is Storage - why so many SSDs and then hard drive ?
You wonna make RAID ? Why not go just with 2x512Gb or 2x1TB ?
And don't get 3TB HDD for sure (or 5), go with 4TB, they are more reliable. Also if it's just for storage, choose those for NAS (like WD RED series), regular HDDs have much higher failure rate.
And Router too - consider AC model (modem you'll probably get from your ISP anyway). |

Thank you for your advice.
The M2 for the OS and maybe favorite Game/Software
2 SSD for Raid0 as it increases read/write speed as you can see here :
And about the 3TB it's for storage (So now after what u told me maybe I 'll go for the 4TB then)
Thanks |
