hi all,
looking to replace/upgrade the CPU in my pcg-fx 220 (sony motherboard MBX-49, part number 1-680-358-31), currently features PIII (750), 1.6V, socket 478, 24.6 watts. i know this same generation cam with 1ghz chips but i cannot locate replacement info on other intel chips that would fit. any help will be greatly appreciated

PIII socket 478... something isn't right?
Sony motherboard? do sony make mainboards?  _________________ 4000+ chips.

It's probably a mobile Pentium III-M. They have microPGA-478 package, which is different from microPGA-478 packages used by Pentium 4 and Pentium M.

| I wouldnt bother! Chances are you'll end up damaging the laptop in the process. There will be little performance gain, put in as much memory and a bigger HD instead. |
