i dont know if intel's mobile chips work in desktops, or how well they would, but i can comment on the 'mobile in a desktop' part by saying that my athlon xp-m 2500+ is a fantastic desktop chip. for amd anyhow, the mobile parts are basically hand picked desktop parts that are good enough to run at low voltages. so you can overclock the hell out of them.

Hmm, if it's a Pentium 4 mobile, I believe it's Socket 479, not 478. BUT they do make motherboards for it.

Don't loose your excitment yet, because the pentium M is VERY strong and fast. Since they have low voltage, it will allow very good overclockability. Now, overclock it only 600MHz, and it will be EQUAL IN POWER to the FX 57 Smile

EDIT: 3.06 ghz??? I dont believe that it is a mobile then.... the ones at 1.7GHz and 2GHz are the very fast versions

unless intel's changed the way they market things, pentium 4 has nothing to do with centrino.
