Hi all I have a nice amd 486 dx4 sv8b in my collection, and recently I was testing it out of curiosity because I am building a new 486 system. From tje specs this chip should have 8kb of L1 cache, but from the tests I performed with memspd and cachechk, it turns out to have 16kb, like other variants of the amd dx4. Anybody knows why?

I have photos of this, I could post them if can be of help.

The markings on the cpu say the following:
Am486 DX4-100
A80486DX4-100SV8B

C 9645APB
M AMD
3Volt
Heatsink req'd.

Thanks!
Paul

AMD may have used some 16k dies to make some 8k parts

These chips are pretty common and contain an Am5x86 core. They have 16 kB and support 4x multiplier. Chances are good that you can run them at 133 MHz.

Nice! So I scored a 133Mhz part, not bad. I'll try to push it to 4x, and see what comes out.

...And in fact it runs stable at 133 Mhz.
