Through all the articles I have written, and research on various chips for them, not to mention various chips that come through AVICC, one thing has become apparent, I really need a microscope to be able to further identify/learn more about the chips we get.

Some good examples are the MIPS prototypes that recently came in, little or no markings makes ID'ing them very difficult.

Many EPROMs and other devices use dies from other manufacturers that we can only learn about by seeing the die.

aberco has been doing some work looking for good ones for me as he uses similar ones in his line of work/research

Its inverted which looks weird but actually pretty nice for CPUs, dust cant fall on something that's upside down Smile

. It also is a trinocular scope, so a camera could be added later

I can probably get this one for $300-350 but dont exactly have the funds for it, so if anyone wants to donate to the cause we can have some more sweet CPU Shack article.
