Rare 24-core 60MB-L3 Broadwell-EP(E5-26xx ES)

Not entirely sure this counts as "collectible", but it's definitely special.

It's an Intel Xeon Engineering Sample from the E5-2600 v4-series (Broadwell-EP) @2.1GHz w/2.6GHz turbo 165 TDP

This one can only be accurately referred to by its S-spec QHYH. Maybe you could call it an E5-2699.9 v4?

This is a rare version with 24 cores and a 60MB L3 cache
That's 2 more cores and 5MB more L3 cache than the top Broadwell-EP chips manufactured for sale.


Note that this one was injured by customs as it crossed the border!
Customs drilled into the crate and partly into the thermal lid, but thankfully the little trooper is still functioning.


In an effort to reduce the chance that the divot in the thermal lid might cause a hot spot when testing,
I lapped off the top layers of the heat lid to make the divot a bit shallower and debur the edges of the drill hole.
Also to be true to the purpose of lapping a thermal lid in the first place, I made it nice and flat.
So all-in-all you get a special CPU with a mirror finish thanks to -hours- of sandpaper love.



In testing there was no more of a difference in temperatures across all 24 cores than one would see on any other CPU.
This may just be due to the drill hitting very near the center of the CPU
