|
|
| Does anyone have photos verifying the earliest production datecodes for non-engineering/mechanical sample Cyrix 6x86 chips with speeds of 80 and 100 MHz? If no photos, perhaps some cataloged data? |

Thank you for the links. Unfortunately, I did not see any datecodes for the 100 MHz model. But for the 80 MHz model, the earliest datecode of week 40, 1995 was uncovered. I guess that would be October 2-8 1995.
Anybody have datecodes for the 100 MHz unit?
What I also found strange was that there were datecodes for the -P90+GP which superseded the -80GP. What would be the reasoning behind this? I figured that once they started with the P-rating that they wouldn't later produce chips without it. Odd. _________________ The only thing I hate more than straightening CPU pins is having CPU's with bent pins in my collection. |

Unfortunately, none of those links uncover the earliest datecode for 100 MHz Cyrix 6x86 CPUs.
Recently, someone drew my attention to this website, http://processortimeline.info/proc1995.htm
Under the month heading for September 1995, it is written,
| Quote: | | Cyrix announces and ships the 100 MHz CX6x86 processor. Performance is comparable to a 133 MHz Intel Pentium processor. The chip is manufactured by IBM, using a 0.65 micron process, incorporating 3 million transistors. Price is US$450 each in quantities of 1000. Code-name during development was M1 |
Various references are listed. I was really surprised to read that Cyrix was shipping 100 MHz 6x86 chips in September. I always thought the 80 MHz part came first, or perhaps the 80 MHz parts were failed 100 MHz parts? But I need some 6x86-100 datecodes to back this up. The earliest 80 MHz datecode you guys found was week 40, 1995, which is October 2-8 1995. |

Week 49, 1995 for 6x86 100 MHz is the earliest 6x86 100 MHz datecode? Sample set pretty small for this speed grade though. |
