I got a batch of these early PDIP64 moto 68ks.

As per http://www.datasheets360.com seems that main difference between 'P' and 'G' is CMOS vs. MOS.

Ha didnt realize that, as they later switched to MC68HC000 for HCMOS so G must have been a bit transitional

Actually MC68000P8 would be CMOS, MC68000G8 should be MOS (even earlier).
