Hello friends,

I was lucky enough to receive these Engineering Samples as they were getting ready to be decommissioned, but my background knowledge is pretty limited with hardware.

They are quite fascinating since Intel hasn't produced DRAM but they are dated 2017, so most likely these are proprietary hardware. I have some thoughts about what these are but I'd like to hear what you guys can come up with.

DDR4 registered memory, most likely manufactured by Micron for Intel. Micron is the one that use Black heatshields on their memory sticks. Size is pretty regular in server world.

Are you shure that the memory size was denoted in GB and not Gb?

BTW 128Gb = 16 GB. (8 bits = 1 byte)
That may be confusing sometimes, i know, but i've seen quite a lot of server ram modules (primarily some FBDIMM's) that have something like "64Gb", "128Gb" , "256Gb" printed on their labels (8, 16 and 32GB respectively).

FBDimms are DDR2 Fully Buffered memory, and Manufacturers used to have a bad habit of selling them in Kits, marking the kit capacity on the individual memory sticks. This is not the case anymore for DDR3 and DDR4 memory. Only Kingston does it nowadays.

Back to subject, your memory is PC4-2400T registered memory, most likely manufactured by Micron for Intel (Black heatshield is normally used by Micron only in the server memory world).
