Hi,
I got the last days my hands on a Kingston 286 -> 386 adaptor.
And I had this one here: (comparable to Cyrix SRx² cpu):
And now: There is an adaptor from 286 to 486
I hope it runs More of weird hareware stuff soon. |

fRaSsL:
Wow, you have impressed me. If this works, then by the same logic you should be able to construct a 286 -> 5x86 adapter, right? All you would have to do would be to find a 386 -> 486 adapter that has a 486 socket on it.
What do you think will happen when it comes to the 286 motherboard's bus speeds? Wouldn't those slow down any adapter (assuming the adapter would work) to the speed of the 286? Or are the adapters designed to overcome this?
Keep me (us) informed.
By the way, how exactly is the 486 daughterboard connected (physically and electrically) to the 386 daughterboard? _________________

| I have this kind of adaptor, too. It's a Kingston 486! now pcb. A test with a AMD 486DX2-80 with voltage regulator socket didn't work :-/ |

Actually, there is 286 to 486 adapter, it's called "Make it 486":
It comes with a co-processor:
It also comes with PLCC-to-PGA adapter.

I don't recognize the function of this creation. Is that an 8086/8088 I see in the picture? _________________

No, it's a i287 -> i387 adaptor mounted on a pcb for switching between i387 and Weitek 3167  |
