I don't think anyone has the balls to try an OC a Cyrix 5x86-133/4x to 150 MHz. I tried this on one of my custom IBM 5x86c QFP to PGA units. It ran pretty well in DOS at 150 MHz. Next day, it wouldn't power up.

Recent 3D accelerated (Voodoo) tests of the fastest 486 CPUs revealed somewhat disappointing results for the venerable Cyrix 5x86-133/4x. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=61639

Smithy: Are there any bent or missing pins? What currency is the $700 request in - AUD? Will you be parting with any more rare CPUs and do you have a list for the pickins?

Meaning, if the item is non-functional, the buyer doesn't get his/her money back upon return? I don't think many would go for that at this price. High bidders for rare chips, especially those from the Vogons forum, want them working.

I can understand from Vogons, but every other rare CPU is almost never sold as working condition, as it is impossible to test most (or has been until recently). Irrespective of whether this works or not, it is still a super rare chip from a collection point of view (working or not).

The last three Cyrix 5x860133/4x chips which sold around or above the $500 mark were sold as working. If working condition was unknown, a neutral party served as an intermediary tester and reshipper. e.g. http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30315

It is just my opinion, but $550 may be a bit high for a strictly as-is sale. There are certain CPUs from the 90's which tend to demand a working condition, and I believe this is one of them. As-is for such a price may make some people suspicious.

If I recall, this CPU was from that Jan 2011 eBay extravaganza sale? There were 24 chips. I know of two which have been tested and passed.

I could serve as an escrow for such a sale

Escrow - that is the word my brain was looking for. Thank you!

I'd be willing to test. I have a system built around a Cyrix 5x86-133/4x, so its just a matter of removing one and inserting the other. I tested another guy's chip here, https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=58247

Also soldered on a half-dozen missing pins.
