|
|
The AlphaStation AXP 150 (Jensen) was the first DEC Alpha 21064 system designed to support Windows NT
They have a 150MHz 21064-AA CPU (DEC 228D 21-35023-13 on these)
They have 512KB of L2 cache on the board, originally these apparently were spec'd to be 17ns parts, but these boards have 15ns SRAMs
They support up to 128MB of parity RAM
I have 2 of these, $45 each _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I don't think 2000 RC1 contains the needed Jensen HAL. AFAIK NT 4.0 is the last Windows to contain it. |

We shall find out.
(I am actually more interested in trying a modern Linux on this) |

Will you report your findings anywhere? I know the Debian Alpha mailing list is still alive, but I haven't tried Linux on Alpha since they axed the official port after Debian 5. |

Probably the same place where I posted about the other Alpha system, Vogons. FWIW I never managed to get Gentoo installed on that one due to problems with video cards. Wonder what kind of video card I can try with this one as it only has EISA slots. Hopefully some ISA card will work.
(edit) looks like only a narrow range of boards will work - I saw a mention of Elsa Winner 1000 TwinBus for video, and AHA1740A for SCSI. The latter sells for over $100 on ebay. |

If there are no other takers I can offer $65 for it with a MicroVax board. |

Sorry, you are wrong. I did run Windows 2000 RC1 on this Alpha plattform. The screenshots in the internet are made by me
I did this screenshots around 12 years ago:

But these are from an EB164 board, not a Jensen. |

It's nowhere near the same. The EB164 uses the 21164 CPU with the 21171 PCI chipset. The Jensen uses the 21064 CPU with Intel's 82350DT EISA chipset.
There were over 2 dozens of HALs for the various Alpha machines and they were compatible only with the specific system they were implemented for. There's no way an EB164 HAL will work on a Jensen. |

| I have Win2kRC running on an EB164 derivative but that doesn't guarantee that the earlier Jensen is supported. We'll see. I will need to find a compatible video card and SCSI card first. |
