Ok, so who out there likes vintage memory? I see that core memory often brings good prices on ebay... except for this piece I just got for about $20 plus shipping. Early core memory like this was hand made. Hard to imagine stringing those little wires through those little cores...
I think the writing on this piece means is just 1024 bits. 64 bits per square (each core is one bit?) and 16 squares = 1024 bits. My piece came without documentation, but I have seen an identical looking piece on ebay claiming to be late 1960s.

It's actually extremely interesting to see how memory was first made... I'm going to try and search for the procedure. _________________ http://www.RareCPUs.com

each core is a single bit.
Core ROM was fairly common, it was hard wried (wires going through different cores) to represent the data.
It is still in use today (Space shuttle uses it for main OS ROM) as it is imperveious to being changed/erased by EMI or rad.
Core RAM each core was wired the same, and the contents were determined by the charges placed on the lines themselves _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
