I just recieved these in today Cool The C8008-1 and the P4003 were both double stamped but with a different color of ink. The C8008-1 as you can see does not have gold pins like the photo I showed earlier suggested. Still it is one of a kind and if it is fake like what was suggested earlier then all of these are probably fake.

I got these from Ebay name: airfreeone. My guess is that me showing these chips wont hurt his sales...

I have talked to several Intel engineers over the years who said they had seen 8008's in the type P package.

I suspect the chip in the photo was probably part of a small batch of prototypes and they just ran them thru the printer that was already set up for the C8008-1's just to get a part number on them for testing. This was probably before Intel started marking chips 'ES'.

I don't think 8008's were ever produced for general sale in the type P package.

The 1311 in the lot is an incredible find. Never expected to actually see one of these.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a half-life test? I've only heard the term in relation to radioactive materials...

Smile Well, I might be using the wrong term, but when I was a kid at school I was taught that everything has a trace of radiation in it - or something along those lines? And every year that went by / or a particular amount of time, that amount of radiation went down by half?

I'm no scientist Embarassed And I may be fully wrong here, but don't archeologists use this method to date old rocks etc?

I have no idea, but you are probably right. I've heard it used a lot for dating organic matter (testing for Carbon-14) but it makes sense that it would apply to all other materials that can have unstable isotopes as well. I just wondered if maybe it refered to something else that I wasn't up on with testing early chips Smile

Thanks Mats,
You know your website is probably the single most reason I am so far deep in debt to my collection! I am still trying to catch up with you on your 8008s and 8080s Smile One day...

Lee - Super good find Cool - congrats! All incredible rare chips.

I just missed this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7588726536&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Was planning to snipe and got distracted and missed it. Sad

I think someone got an unreal incredible deal on these at only about $12/ea for intel grey traces chips. I would have paid more - but no way to know what the winner's max bid was.

I don't mean to hijack Lee's thread, but this did not seem worth starting another thread for, and seems somewhat related. - Good deal on Intel chips.

MM

I am willing to bet airfreeone has 20 each of the C4004 B0... and B1... dated chips. Still, I don't think things like this come along every day.
