Another Thread here got me thinking about a dedicated auction site for Old Electronics so I did a bit of searching and came across this Software that claims to be able to act like eBay
https://www.emultitechsolution.com/lowest-highest-unique-penny-bid-auction-script-web-site.html
So thought a bit of discussion from the members here would be interesting.
What are your thoughts??????? _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |

As long as it is only us who offer stuff on such a site it may end up as the last attempt: just a few of us put up auctions, get disappointed by the low interest and price and go back to ebay. Or simply back to our sell/trade section.
Also no hunting for treasures will be possible then as we normally know what we have (I bet my recent find, the purple traced 8008 would never show up there). It requires open auction sites to work as gold mines.
I would not expect externals to find this site and offer their old electronics here - while they offer their other stuff still on ebay.
Other thoughts? How could this idea which in general is a good one turn out as a success? |

The only way I could see it working is if it was promoted heavily by members to their existing buyers and sellers as the place to find and sell good quality items at a fair price and by promoting it heavily on social media platforms.
Does no other member besides Wepawet have any opinions on this that they would like to share?????? _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |

For sellers this is of course an option.
You will hardly find new buyers (ecxept those brought from other sellers).
Still not a good source for gold mining which is my main reason to use ebay. |

| I would value a better way for us to auction things amongst ourselves. The best we seem to have at the moment is a blind tender system on the forum, or putting it on eBay and paying their fees. I don't know that starting a new computer hardware specific marketplace will be the fix though. It would run into the same sort of trust issues between buyers and sellers that plagued eBay in the early days and caused them to introduce the high fees and automated refund/returns systems we all loathe. |

I think using PayPal only as a payment method would give some protection to both buyers and sellers.
Lets face it we all use PayPal to pay each other with now. _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |
