|
|
I received my NexGen motherboard with Nx586-80 this morning, and want to be able to use the board to test the P90 I have and any other Nx586 I get. I can't find a reference anywhere to show me what the jumper settings are for the different processor speeds. I know I saw such a reference somewhere recently (web page or in a forum somewhere...) but can't find it now. Does anyone know the settings for JP3 on the VESA/ISA system board for running different Nx586 processors?
Obviously if I don't get the info any faster Nx586 can run at the speed of the P80, but it will be nice to test them working at their rated speed. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Well I forgot that you haven't camera at this moment. So I will post photo of mine mobo :
You said something about JP3. On mine CPU settings are on JP3 too I tested all Nexgens what I had on this mobo (with small and big silver heatspreader). But I don't have manual. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

That is the same as mine, with JP3 in the same position. Mine is REV D, and as I mentioned above it is set for the Nx586-80.
I'll be buying a scanner next Tuesday, and will be taking a motherboard (a dead one...) and a couple of dead processors with me so I can test to make sure the one I buy is capable of producing good quality scans of both (it's cheaper than a camera...). I'll be able to post scans when I need to after that

Thanks for that info. The Nx586-90 I have (so far the only other NexGen other than an Nx587, which this board doesn't ahve a socket for...) is also a small heatspreader, so that isn't a problem yet (hopefully I'll have a PCI motherboard before I get one with a large heatspreader).
I just oened the link on cpu-museum.de. That is the one I had seen recently, just couldn't remember where I saw it.. Can't register on the forum there as there was a problem with the site when i tried before (I think it was cpu-collection.de that had the problem...), so am probably limited to what/where I can post there, but at least I can read the thread. Thanks
I'll take a look at your pages shortly. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

About choosing a scanner, you need scanner with a CCD lamp since you are going to scan 3D objects.
I was in the same position as you a while ago... Check this thread: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1994 _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |

I've just got all the information I needed for my original question from the cpu-museum link. Thanks Minuteman and everyone else who replied about it.
Cpuswe: thanks for pointing me to that thread, I hadn't thought to search the forums here for info on which scanner (or sort of scanner). I'm making notes about scanners that have been mentioned and as well as asking in town I'm going to see what is available on eBay. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
