I just wasted my money on an i7-3960X engineering sample that is said to work. The qSpec is QBE7, and I spent $57 on it. Could I get $60 out of it? I really don’t want it.

That's not an ES, it's a QS.

It's the less desirable C1 stepping, but yes you should be able to get at least 60 USD out of it.

For $3 though, why not keep it? Weren't you after an overclockable ES/QS chip?

Well, I didn’t expect to spend $57 on a chip. But it’s a cool chip I guess. Kinda wanted to spend my money on a Skylake Celeron and Haswell i5 I found.

That's understandable. You should keep an eye on CPU-World's For Sale section though, Haswell i5s frequently come up for sale.

Could I sell my newly-acquired i7-3960X there?

I’ll probably list it here for $70 or best offer, or a trade for:
A JKT Everest CPUShack had for sale a while back, a cheap Skylake ES, any ES with a speed of 4.0GHz or more, something along those lines.

Is $70 reasonable here?

The 3960x is Sandy bridge, so overclocking it to Everest JKT speeds isn't too far out of the question with a decent cooler.

I was thinking about trading my i7-3960X QS for a JKT Everest LOL (if anyone wanted to trade, at least)
