|
|
I have for the past few days been sorting out pictures of cpu:s from a number of collector sites to create an example of what i mean about the picture library. (Right now i dream about Cyrix MII GP-300... )
Visit http://www.recode.se/cpulibrary and check out the site so far (do not comment the design! ). You collectors with own sites/pictures please check the site and how you can contribute. I think i need OK from a couple of more collector sites to get a critical mass.
This version uses an ordinary offline album generator. Future versions might be based on a database and of course have more functions (search for example).
Please comment and tell me if there are any use for a site like this?
How is the speed of the page? Image loading? Ok in all browser types?

That looks good to me.
I know it still needs some work (such as access to more images and things you have suggested for the future like a search engine will be good, but how it is laid out it is very easy to navigate to find any specific processor from the range it covers.
It took me less than 30 seconds to get from clicking the link here to viewing the page of Cyrix MII processors, and for me that is fast and simple to use. Also with the number of chips you already have on the page, it enabled me to identify a processor which I removed from a motherboard tonight which has most of it's text rubbed off (enough to know roughly what it is but not exactly without a photo to compare against).
I look forward to seeing version 0.2, especially if that has a wider range of processors as well as more within the current range. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Keep going. I like it !! I will make better pictures for you. It is little shame for me - I found some pictures from my old camera. I will send you better ones via email. Let me know if needed photo is in bad quality - I will make better because I plan to refresh most of my pictures. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Great! I will check your site and see what im missing. I know that you have a remarked SX-20 that mostly certain will be in the library...
Yes, i need them a bit larger, about 800*600 will do fine. Just so you can make out all markings. I will get back to you with what i need, or if you got them all and can put them in a .rar or .zip somwhere on your site that would be great! Then i can download all and browse them offline with a image browser. Much faster.

| I can give you all my pictures. I took about 150 of my chips and don't have time to do the rest. How to send them? They are too big to email. |

Until i get my own server running with FTP and so, i googled "file transfer" and this http://www.yousendit.com/ came up.
Can we try that to begin with? (my email is thomas.johansson@gmail.com)
Thanks!

Added ~130 new pics, mostly IBM and Cyrix.
Some pics will appear in more than one directory. For example the Intel marked IBM-made-486:s will be both under IBM and Intel

That directory is emtpy at the moment, and it seems like the album generator creates the index page even if it is empty.
I will ad some CPU:s in that category to solve the problem! _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |

Hi Thomas,
How about the size and pixels of picture you need? |
Large enough so that you can read all markings and text!
I resize them to 640x640 but some of cpushacks is around 250 pixels and that seems OK to. So they dont need to be larger than around 640.

+153 pictures...
Added many pictures from cpu-zone.com. K-6-2:s from cpushack.net. Cyrix 387:s and lots more.
Amazingly it seems like you all collect different sspecs. Found a whole bunch of ordinary 486 dx-33,pentiums and so that where missing.
Sorting under Intel 486 seems out of order. Will fix in next update. _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |
