A discussion about Intel 430TX chipset in CPUShack sale thread has interested me :

I have some ASUS TX97 boards with that chipset. Has someone run K6-III CPU on it ? Any informations what max upgrade is possible on it ?

You can run a K6-III in many TX mainboards, though there are things to take care of. Many of these boards don't provide for 2.4V usually, and even if they do, they haven't been designed for such load. The K6-III may burn their VRM. A BIOS patch may also be necessary to enable write allocation.

It's much better to run an ASUS TX97 with a K6-III+ instead.
