2 Sspecs are known for a standard Intel C8086, S2829 and S2864.
It seems that most of the C8086 that we can find via Google Images are S2864, which all seem to have a rectangular lid.
Thus, I suppose that the S2829 have square lids, and S2864 rectangular ones.
The C8086 ES also have square lids, like this one found here or this one. C8085s too.
I have a S2864 with 7832 datecode, yours is probably a bit older. Intel likely changed slightly the package between 7814-7832.
In all cases, nice find, all C8086 are very rare. S2829 seems more rare, this is the only one that I have ever seen. _________________ Stelo.xyz Museum (CPU Collection and more) |

You guess right. My square lid C8086 is produced between 23 weeks - 24 weeks of 1978. |

I can safty guess from S2865 there’s no C8086 exist.
My D8086 S2865 was produced in 39th week of 1978, this is evidence. |

Interesting, I did not know that until now. In this case, I can suppose that the S2829 and S2864 in C package will still coincide with the respective square and rectangular lids, at least most of time.

Exciting, Maybe D8086 and C8086 co-exist between 28th week and 30th weeks. |

Hi,
I'm a newbie to these forums, so hello to everyone. However, I am not new to old processors as I used to collect them many years ago, and I still use them for personal enjoyment in programming and wire-wrapping things together.
Anyway, I was looking through the net for the details on a C8086 CPU I have in one of my SDK86 boards. It looks the same as the one in the above pictures, but it has the following stamped on it....
C8086
S2805
5701B
I can send a pic if you want.
Is S2805 something special or am I looking at a pretty ordinary 8086? |

Awesome find !
And a lower Sspec should also be older, no? This would be a very early non-Es C8086, I am curious to know the date code. _________________ Stelo.xyz Museum (CPU Collection and more) |
