2 pretty Early (presumably) SX835... There is reason to be pretty mad indeed :p
The era where thermal paste was not yet invented...

You might use some Chinese service to repaint them Lol

Ohhh that loss experienced almost every CPU collector when tried to remove heatsink from Pentium ;( I think you may try heating so long that heatsink will fall off without much prying.

I think the pink-ish silicone stuff ends up acting like super putty and just pulls the ink/print right off, regardless of heating/cooling. I've seen this happen to a P90 that had a thermal pad instead of paste.

I'll probably be selling these on the forum regardless of damaged print. Simply means someone will get a better price. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Although if anyone knows how to get the evil grey stuff off, I'd really like to save that SX753...

Soak it in Isopropyl alcohol, with a bit of luck it will soften the grey stuff and you can get it off without damage.

I've been soaking it every 10-20 min or so, haven't completely submerged the thing. Definitely my next attempt.

One of the corners was chipped and a pin is missing, so this is more of a display piece than anything.

That's why the value of the perfect condition of SX753 have been increasing. Really hard to get the perfect one.

I have been soaking the SX753 in alcohol for ~3 days now.

The grey stuff is a bit softer now. I've been chipping away at it with my fingernails (ow). This chip is already damaged due to the missing pin, but so far it looks like this method has kept the logo mostly intact and hasn't added too many significant scratches. I'll post pictures when I make significant progress.

Another good candidate is 1,2-dichloroethane (ethylene dichloride), but it's quite toxic.

Just an update to anyone who was curious: I managed to remove all of the evil grey stuff.

2 weeks of soaking in 70% alcohol and chiseling away at it with fingernails (again, ow) has resulted in it looking pretty good.
