I recently acquired a sizeable lot of Auburndale sample chips.
These are mostly unmarked (but some have lot codes printed) similar to the other oddball samples I've posted over the summer.
Some of the ones with date codes printed have a sharpie marking of "A0".
Some of the parts without printed date codes have a sharpie marking of "B0".
So far, I have only tested one of each variety, as most of these need to have their pins unbent.
My test system is an Alienware M15X with the newest available BIOS installed.
The A0 chip would make the system power up, but all of the indicator lights would flash over and over and the system would not otherwise POST. (I believe this means unsupported/no CPU installed?)
The B0 chip POSTs successfully and made it in to windows. I managed to grab a CPU-Z validation and also dumped the CPUID to the cpu-world database. HWInfo64 identifies the chip as a Q2CZ, which seems to be in line with the specs that the unit exhibits.
EDIT: CPU-Z is having trouble identifying the CPU, as it thinks it's a LGA1156 Havendale core. HWInfo64 identifies it correctly as Auburndale.

Has anyone here encountered A0 (or other) steppings of Auburndale chips? If so, did you test them? If you got them working, do you remember what system you tested them on?

Good to know. I did find a CPUID dump on the website with a part that had a CPUID of 106E1. My B0 Auburndale was 106F1. The other submission mentions disabling speedstep allowed their part to boot. (Not sure if theirs was an A0 or not)

Ah OK, makes sense.
In this same lot of chips, I got a bunch of seemingly Clarksfield-based chips, but I haven't been able to get them to POST. They share the same PCB part number as a couple of ES chips like Q1NF. PCB code of E26360. I think some of them were sharpie marked A1? Were Clarksfield A1 known to work?
