New boxed still shrink wrapped. That's a snap-on upgrade for 386SX CPUs. I've bought it for myself recently with an intention of opening the box and playing around, then I've realised someone may be looking for this rare chip new boxed. There should be also a manual and floppy disks with diagnostic/configuration software inside.
PM me your offers. I can also trade it for something else like a working NexGen Nx586 with an integrated FPU or working NxPCI mainboard.
Free delivery to the AVICC.
The first photo is what the CPU is supposed to look like. _________________ My Active Sales |

| I've been looking for one of these chips to use in an actual computer, not to keep shrink-wrapped in the box. So I will pass for now to allow anyone who prefers this NIB to manifest their interest. I have to say though this is the first time I see one of these for sale anywhere in the past 3 years or so. |

| I wonder why 386SX-16 computers manufactured before 1991 are not compatible. |

There is no FLT# pin 28 which can be used by an upgrade CPU to effectively disable the original CPU.
| Quote: | Activating the FLT# input floats all Intel 386SX bidirectional and output signals, including HLDA. Asserting FLT# isolates the Intel 386SX from the surrounding circuitry.
As the Intel 386SX is packaged in a surface mount PQFP, it cannot be removed from the motherboard when In-Circuit Emulation (ICE) is needed. The FLT# input allows the Intel 386SX to be electrically isolated from the surrounding circuitry. This allows connection of an emulator to the Intel 386SX PQFP without removing it from the PCB. This method of emulation is referred to as ON-Circuit Emulation (ONCE). |

| Yeah the clip-on chip needs to disable the original CPU. Not all 386sx support that. |

Could be a nice upgrade for my 386SX and I have to open the box as well |

See the OP reply above: the ones that don't have the #FLT signal on pin 28.
It's a good upgrade but expect it to be expensive. These are rare especially NIB. They were only sold at retail as upgrades, never to OEMs. They were expensive so they didn't sell particularly well. So there aren't many around. |

Yeah, their list price was $269 for SRx2-20/40 and $299 for SRx2-25/50 back in 1994. _________________ My Active Sales |
