It wouldn’t let me add a photo so here is a link to the picture.. https://www.reddit.com/r/vintagecomputing/comments/bl4f0m/heres_a_couple_old_cpu_dies_ive_had_them_for_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

One seems to be https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Performance_PIPER_die.JPG but other would be easier to identify with better pic.

I think you are right - these look like the wafers that eBay seller 'bionicle' sells. That would make the left one an AMD 486 test wafer, I thought it looked familiar. I have a bunch of both of these.

Sorry for the delay, but finally got some pictures taken. I had bought them from eBay quite a few years ago, but couldn't tell you who I had bought them from.

Yes, PIPER there indeed together with AMD 486 test wafer and some gate array that's likely impossible to identify without some markings. Aberco's pics show that those AMD 486 are smaller than normal production versions, so that could be test wafer for 350 nm or other later process.

I am looking to take high resolution shot of PIPER BTW Smile
I have the same AMD 486 waver and I confirm.
The first one is probably a radiation hardened ASIC.
