The NexGen NX586

It was an excellent chip that competed with the original Pentium (often being faster). Unfortunately, while it was code-compatible, it was not pin-compatible and required a proprietary motherboard with its proprietary socket and chipset.

diodenmann was asking about the clcc chip, not the chip in his avatar.

Nice, my best guess looking at the die is that it's a philips PXA microcontroller, the 16bit evolution of the 8051. Would love to have one.
It could also be something by ST. Whatever the case it's a MCU.

I found some markings on the die. Maybe it's helpful for somebody?

I was very wrong!
Well it's an unknown TI microcontroller of sorts.
