Hello all,

Newbie to this forum.

I have a sample of a National Semiconductor INS8080AD in the original sample box with foam slide-out holder and conductive foam insert. The box is labelled: "1977 THE YEAR OF THE MICROPROCESSOR National Semiconductor". I've had it since 1984, and I thought maybe it would sell. My question: what eBay category would you recommend? I looked and could not decide.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The usual place for vintage processors is Desktop Drives & Peripherals -> Technology Books & Misc. -> Other Hardware -> Vintage -> Other.
Another often used category is Computers & Electronics -> Desktop PC Components -> CPUs -> Other. Better yet, post in two categories at once. Does your processor have "ES" or "CS" stamp or markings?

Thank you!

No ES or CS, just a "621" production/date code.

Still, the processor in the box should sell higher than the processor without box Smile I can't estimate how much the processor is worth as it depends on the condition of the chip and pins, and how the chip is packaged (white ceramic or purple ceramic). Usually, white ceramic INS8080AD in good condition sells for $20 - $30. Purple ceramic INS8080AD will be a few bucks cheaper.
