The one in the upper right is the PII 400. It has a different PCB layout and a slightly smaller die (7.5M transistor Deschutes vs 9.5M Katmai).

Between the Pentium III's, it's not as easy. They also have different PCB layouts, but that's not conclusive of which is which. There may be a way to figure it out based on some of the SMD components on the PCB, but I'm not sure and a quick google search didn't turn up anything.

I can look through all my Katmai PIII's and check for patterns.

Looking at cache speed left is 533, bottom is 500.

In case not having plastic cover test ot to find multiplier and again look to cache speed to distinguish between possible fsb speed.

Good point. The 250 MHz cache on the bottom one wouldn't be equipped on the 533 MHz CPU. With later production CPUs isn't it likely that faster cache was used on the slower CPUs? Making this technique good for process of elimination, but not great for identifying a single CPU without plugging it in to check the multiplier?

No need to, these are all in their plastics. Was just wondering, if they weren't .. If the would be any markings on the PCB or something, like the Celerons. Also I was surprised to see the close size between deschutes and katmai ..
