Hmm, interesting. I always though there was a single P4 model that was 64-bit. Good to know I was mistaken

Just searched the CPU-World databese.. if correct then there was 1
SL8JX G1 stepping Pentium 4 2.8MHz/533/1M
if info is correct I'm still not sure how it would go on a standard board whether EMT64 would be enabled

Here is the result of some investigations :
- There is some EM64T enabled S478s in the database, but very few (< 30 for 3M+ entries)
- 4K+ S478 Pentium 4 with F49 CPUID (G0 Step) : Not a single one reports EM64T enabled
- All EM64T S478s in DB are F41 based P4 (E0 Step).
- All EM64T S478s in DB are 3.20 or 3.40 GHz part, except a single 2.13 GHz
- 5 parts are running on a 64 bit OS. So that really works !
- Asrock P4i945GC seems OK with EM64T. It's NOT a common board (i945 + S478) - http://valid.x86.fr/1194385
- IBM eServer xSeries 206 w/ M71IX Motherboard (S478) support EM64T - http://valid.x86.fr/2634646
EDIT> Seems that you can activate EM64T with a BIOS trick on E0 step S478 but Intel removed that on G0 step. I've checked a complete cpuid dump and for sure, it's enabled on those E0.
EDIT2> Some more investigation later. Mystery parts are probably SL7QB (3.2GHz) & SL7Q8 (3.4 GHZ). Seems to be special OEM parts for IBM w/ EM64T enabled !
EDIT3> Just bought a P4i945GC and a SL7QB for a good price. Will check and report.

ECS 865PE-A (V2.0) maybe also supports 64Bit. In Donwload Section -> BIOS you can read "1.Added Intel IA-32e CPU(64bits) support".

there is cheap 478 to 775 adapter. |

He was looking for an EM64T capable 478 chip. There are cheap 478 to 775 adapters out there, but that's not the direction he wanted to go. |

Depend if the EM64T flag reported by CPUID is WO, RO or RW.
If the flag is Read Only, there is no need for the BIOS to support EM64T. If the flag is WO or RW, default is probably disabled and a BIOS trick might be needed (MSR?). Memory remapping of the PCI Address space over 4G could be mandatory too for EM64T. That requires BIOS support and not many S478 boards have it.
Anyway, I've just received the P4i945GC. Still waiting for the CPU. Can't wait to try
