All of these have similar scratches and scuffs comparable to the ones scanned. Similar in quality to the ones I have sold previously along with CPUShack's batch.

I was like.. can I please have high res photos of these, but then I remembered that Ive bought four! I can make my own eventually. Horaaay! Very Happy You should all know that these photos really really are a rarity and the patterns the pads make are important as to figure out what we're looking at. I can imagine that there eventually will be lists of what FRU code corresponds to what POWER processor variant, but for now.. this is serious archeology. There are even tose that doesnt even have the "POWER" label. I'm hoping IBM will change its mind and start BLASTING OUT a nice logo and descriptive text on the heatspreader. Just typing "POWER" and an FRU code is a bit disappointing tbh.
There are plenty of CPUs on eBay that's advertised as POWER7, POWER8 and POWER9 but they are really not. They are the wrong kind or a P7 is a P6 or a P) is a P8. I've even seen Z/Arch processors labeled as POWER. So be careful.

I can grab higher-res scans of the pads if you'd like. The ones above are roughly 300DPI

Thanks! But since I'll get a couple of my own, I can get my own photos.
There are some really curious things happening on the pads that I'd love to ask some packaging guy about sometime.. there are at least five types of pads, two larger and two smaller. The larger are recessed with four smaller pips on them, arranged in a plus (+) and a cross (x) pattern. The smaller seems to have some kind of insulation around them, and pads with four or one pip on them, again in a cross, plus or in the case of one pip, only in the center.
Intriguing!

This is not what you see in the POWER9 Sforza module which uses oval shaped pads (similar to recent Xeons) with no pips. But two sets, one also with some sort of insulation around the pads.

I'm going to guess that the larger pads are for power delivery or grounding, as most pins on many CPUs seem to be for that purpose.

The Sforza modules are the smaller package (similar in size to previous smaller PCB LGA POWER6-POWER8 packages) right?

Last call on these, remaining chips are destined for eBay.

All of them are pretty much the same sort of condition as the ones scanned.

If they are like the right one in the picture (02CY282), I'll take one each. If they are like the left one (02CY137), I'll pass.

I'll try to grab chips similar to the right one.
