Here are some nice Microsystems International Ltd (MIL) 1103 DRAMs
They are custom marked (or protos) but the die is clearly an 1103.
Very nice chips
22x MIL C80008 1103 DRAM $8 each or a pair for $13

For fun here's a calculation on how many of those you would need to boot a very basic and stripped down modern OS. Assuming that if you're lucky enough you can boot a minimal Linux system based on a not too old kernel, stripped to the bare minimum, in 4MiB of RAM though that may be stretching it a lot.
one chip=1kx1bit; assuming these weigh about 5g each.
1kiB = 8 chips = 40g.
1MiB = 8 chips*1024 = 40g*1024 = 40.96kg
4MiB = 163.84kg
Under a more reasonable assumption of 16MiB, you're close to 1 ton. |

LOL, you would need 4 just to load a simple boot sector And that's without the BIOS code.
I just like old memory _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Phew, thankfully these only weigh 2.5grams each, think of the savings! _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Actually you would still need 8 to make it byte-wide. Unless you do some clever addressing gymnastics. |
