Anyone know if I can swap out a i3 6100 for a i9 9900k Asus M32cd-as31 Computer Asus H110M-K Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard. Im slowly putting a system together. Im going to order a Mobo next week and start my build. But sitting here looking at this i9 is killing me. LOL I Just wanted to throw it in there for like a month till I get all my parts together. I have found that I should be able to run the i7 7700k. But I have the i9 I just wanted to get a look at it in action.

Thanks

Without BIOS modding you won't run Coffee Lake on H110.

Not that you want to do that in the first place, the VRMs will melt.

BIOS mod or not, the board only goes up to a 65W TDP chip. The 9900k is a 95W max TDP chip.

Not to mention, that's the lowest end imaginable board with one of the highest end chips around. Just wait a week until you get a suitable board.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/All-series/H110M-K/HelpDesk_CPU/

The Core i7-7700K is the fastest CPU on the QVL.
(That makes this a 91 W board.)

As others have mentioned, serious modding is required to an 8th or 9th gen chip on this board, if possible at all. They certainly will not work out of the gate. (And for the record, I have this very same motherboard Razz )
