Ask the seller to mark the package as $5 value.

If John sets up a cheap listing on eBay, with the listing plus listed shipping adding up to what the shipping costs, I think eBay would add on the relevant tax, and you wouldn't have to pay the postal service to collect it. That's how it works for US sales in the UK

I find that if the tax payable is a very small amount then they don't bother... so I mark the items low value.

If I understand correctly, edwardauskis is asking if he could have a CPU sent in the AVICC shipment of another EU-based member here, so the overall cost of tax per chip is less than if he tried to import the one chip himself.

You can send the Chips to me (im in Germany)

We need to pay import taxes too, but i have the possibility to keep them low because i have a small company.

Then you just need to pay low import and EU-national shipping a second time

I can confirm it is the same with parcels from Russia. I picked up the last parcel I get from Vegeta this week to my post office and I had to pay 33 EUR of taxes icon_chainsaw

Problem in Denmark at least, is that the postal service charges appx $20 for handling the VAT and Customs if applicable.

I don't have any issues with paying the Danish 25% VAT on, say a 10$ chip, but I really don't want to pay the additional 20$ Fee. It could be solved if the shipper already reports the applicable amount and prepays it, but that seems to be a pretty tedious task.
