Probably the Socket 754. I cant remember whether semprons have the same on die memory controller in that socket, I assume they do. That will make it faster if nothing else. _________________ CPU-Me! Hippo's Collection Online |

Sempron 2600+ socket 754 is 1.6 GHz. Socket A Sempron would be better if you already have socket A motherboard, and you can find socket A Sempron cheap. Or get an Athlon XP - it's the same chip, the only difference is in speed rating and branding. If you don't have socket A motherboard then socket 754 Sempron may be better, especially if you're going to run 64-bit OS.

I have a 3400+ socket 754 in one of my systems overclocked from 2.0 GHz to 2.4 GHz. To answer your question, I would go with the 2600+ socket 754. |
I thinking about price of new AMD Athlons 64 AM2 CPUs. I wonder they will be available in low versions < 150 USD ! _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
