| Looking for help from anyone. My computer of a few years recently has stopped booting up. The motherboard is an AOpen AK73 with a AMD Athlon XP 1600+ CPU. I have a voice diagnostic on the motherboard that reports, without a POST beep, that the "CPU may have a problem." Over the past couple of months when this happened I usually just rebooted a couple of times until I was successful. However, the last time this happened no matter how many reboots I attempted, and I assure you it was in the hundreds, I was unable to boot properly. I have already ordered a new motherboard and cpu (as it was time for an upgrade anyway) but I would like to know if anyone has an ideas as to what would have caused the problem. If the motherboard still works I would like to use it rather than just junk it. Same with the CPU. |

Hello. Check capacitors on mainboard. How they looks ? Core on processor isn't crushed ? Power supply is good ?

| The power supply is good, less than 6 months old. The capacitors on the board look ok...no buldging or anything although I don't claim to be an expert on the subject. The processor also doesn't really show any signs of damage as much as I can tell. |

Hi, was or IS the cpu cooler mounted well ?
Can you look from the side between cooling frame and CPU die. ? No space ?
Maybe there is a PCI/AGP Card / RAM module not right in the slot ... |

Replace all RAM modules. I had problem with posting CPU error but in the fact was defect RAM. I understand you see nothing on display screen ?
