Hello there
I currently have a i5 4770K and would like to optimize my setup a bit for the coming Diablo 4... I'd like to match a somewhat correct graphics card like a GTX 1050 or 1660 with some small CPU headroom, but I'm unsure about the gaming performance versus merchant value - ebay shows prices which look overrated to me
current options are the obvious i7 4790 or 4790K, or the E3-1286 V3
are there other decent options? are the prices really overrated and could I find alternatives?
someone has any for sale?
Thanks in advance! |

Haswell is very outdated these days, i'd just upgrade to something newer instead.
That, and the 4790/K is stupidly overpriced. |

I must admit I have also contemplated an upgrade kit, but the cost is also driving me mad, especially since most kits do not include matching RAM and other things... I would first try to get the best out of my current motherboard and see if it makes a difference at usage
I like to scavenge parts and fiddle with what I have, exactly like in the days when I was digging the next dumpster 486 to have a better framerate at Quake :p |

New hardware with cheap i3 10100f and mobo with H-chipset and
something like 16 gigs of DDR4 2666 memory gives you more perfomance than expensive 4790k.
With motherboard with B-chipset you get option to overcroclock your memory.
Of course there are some strange people like me that's like old HEDT platforms xD. |

Unfortunately none of these CPU's are going to provide enough performance upgrade to be noticeable, and really will be a waste of money to go that route.
That being said, really the 4770K should still be enough to run a 1050. If you need higher performance than that, a platform upgrade to LGA1200, LGA1700, or AM4 will be a better overall value. |

| I guess the best I could do is wait a bit for the graphic cards to lower in price and first try it out with my 4770K |
