|

Hi,
Please check available models list on :
http://www.cpu-info.com/index2.php?mainid=html/cpu/amdk5.php
Questions :
1) This list is correct ?
2) Who have AMD K5 PR100 with 75 Mhz real clock ?
3) Why AMD K5 PR120 is slower than PR100 ? (FSB and real clock is slower)
4) Last question is hardcore : We read about two types of AMD K5 cores : SSA/5 and 5k86. Why is written on P75 both prints ? _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

1) SSA/5 = 5k86, K5 came after the 5k86. I'm not sure of the full list of what 5k86 are available.
The different K5 that I know are:
Gold Top:
PR75ABR 75MHz
PR100ABQ 100MHz
PR120ABQ 60MHz Bus
PR133ABQ 66MHz Bus (not in my collection so not verified)
PR133ABR 66MHz Bus
PR150ABR 66MHz Bus
PR166ABR 66MHz Bus
PR166ABX 66MHz Bus
PR200ABX ?? Bus (not in my collection so not verified)
Ceramic
PR75ABR 75MHz
PR90 (Not in my collection so I don't have details)
PR100ABQ 100MHz
2) I only know the PR100 running at 100MHz
3) I haven't researched the speeds so can't comment, but would be interested to hear an accurate answer
4) I didn't think that the ssa/5 core came after the other K5, as suggested by the article. The only ssa/5 that I ahve is the 5k86-P75 (aka SSA/5-75ABR). Date code is 9616. The earliest K5 I ahve is a ceramic PR75 with datecode 9622. All the 5k86 I have seen have both 5k86 and SSA/5 on them _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

5k86 = K5
1) YES, except for "AMD K5 PR100 (5k86), 75MHz, 1.5 x 50MHz"
2) K5 PR100 are always 100 MHz for me because it is always a SSA5 core
3) It is PR so even if K5 PR120 run slower than K5 100 (SSA5), it has the same performance as if it was a SSA5 running at 120 MHZ
4) When AMD launched 5k86 they change markings for new cpus (->K5), 120 and above, but for older too (75, 90 & 100), to have same markings for all K5... _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !

I saw the 133ABQ in your collection, and the 200ABX in CPUShack's (only one I have seen so far of them). I'll add the PR100ABR without gold cap to my list of wants (not looking for it straight away though..)
I too would like to hear other info when it's given (by Simmayor or anyone else that knows more than us) _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
