| Man that MCM is sweet - I'd love one of those in my collection. What does it come out of? I see references online to Nexus 7k series gear but not exactly what blade uses it. The supervisor blade? |

Interesting that the switch blade module has these chips. I tore down a 6500 series supervisor and it had a bunch of heavy ceramic, the netlogix, and a bunch of others, but no R2D2 chips.
Looks like you can get the module mentioned above for <$100 before shipping. Amazing how fast the price of these things has dropped.
I’ve got a Palo Alto PA-5020 I’ll tear down at some point. Paid way way less than the original $120K it cost new back in the day.
But it still works for now, and I have a 10Gbps capable inline packet capture box that I use in my lab sometimes. When I don’t want to hear anything else ;P |

I have another one if you want it? I didn't list it because I haven't gotten around to removing the lid yet. These came from a 6500, but I don't remember exactly which blade... Definitely one of the switching ones that takes 10g GBICs. There seem to be few revisions, and most of them have standalone R2D2 chips surrounded with RAM on the board. It's rare for me to come across one of these where it's all in one module. I've pulled apart about 30x 6509/12 frames, so maybe 200 boards, and only found 3 boards with these on them. |
