Hi guys, new to the forums, but I would be very grateful for your help if possible.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4280. I'm looking into installing some cheap upgrades as I realise it isn't very flash by todays standards but it runs some stuff ok including word and the things I need. I would like it to be faster as I'm installing bits and pieces that seem to be getting it down.
The CPU that is fitted is a SL3DW which is a 500MHz 0.18micron PA2 spec Micro-PGA2 chip.
From my understanding of the situation, this is the fastest non-speedtep CPU that was made for the Micro-PGA2 socket.
I've been doing some research and basically can't seem to find out if I can install a faster CPU into the machine without causing havok.
From the technical specs, I would be able to get an SL53L or SL53M to work at the 1.6v voltage, but I don't know if it will be as simple as that?
Cheers for any advice you can supply, I'd really appreciate some information on running speedstep processors with an originally non-speedstep machine.
Cheers
