ROSS was part of Cypress and developed the HyperSPARC line of SPARC CPUs.
The HyperSparc was a MCM design using a minimum of 6 dies
RT620 CPU,
RT625 CMTU (Cache and Memory Management and Tags)
RT627 CDU (Cache Data Unit) L2 Cache
The RT627 originally was a 64K chip and then was upgraded to 128K along with a upgrade to the CMTU
Each MCM contained wither 4 cache chips or 8, for 256/512k or 512k/1M of L2 cache per module.
If you look at these modules you may feel a sense of familiarity. They are designed and made by MMS (MicroModule Systems) the same company that designed and made the packages for the Intel Pentium Pro 1M processor.
MMS also made some rugged embedded Pentium Processor modules too.
These modules are heavy on the gold, with an aluminum backing plate, and are New Old Stock from 30 years ago.
