!DEAL ALERT!
If you’re interested in a deal, I'll offer a bundle of all 12 chips ($14 asking price) for $10.
Chip Information and History
I came across some interesting history while searching for info about these parts. GlobeSpan acquired Virata for $1.3B in 2001, and then just 2 years later was itself acquired by Conexant, a Rockwell Semiconductor Systems spinoff, for $864million USD.
Conexant sold its broadband access product line in 2009 to Ikanos Communications.
On July 26, 2017, Synaptics completed its acquisition of Conexant Systems, LLC.
Intersil Corp. acquired SiCom Inc. for $191million in 2000.
Agere Systems was spun out of Lucent Technologies in 2002, and subsequently merged into LSI corporation in 2007, which was acquired by Avago Technologies in 2014, ultimately being acquired by Broadcom in 2016.
More info that I could find about each part:
A1 - PMC AAL1gatorII PM73121-RI:
AAL1 Segmentation And Reassembly Processor
From the Datasheet:
The AAL1 Segmentation And Reassembly (SAR) Processor (AAL1gator II™) provides DS1, E1,E3, or DS3 line interface access to an ATM Adaptation Layer One (AAL1) Constant Bit Rate(CBR) ATM network. It arbitrates access to an external SRAM for storage of the configuration, the user data, and the statistics. The device provides a microprocessor interface for configuration, management, and statistics gathering. PMC-Sierra also offers a software device control package for the AAL1gator II device.
A2 - NEC L7A0759:
Unknown
A3 - Virata HELIUM VC8410-PQC
ATM Switching and Layer 2/3 Processing Device with Dual ARM RISC Processor Architecture
From the Datasheet:
Helium is a single chip, highly integrated ATM switching and layer 2/3
processing device. A general purpose RISC Protocol Processor runs
higher layer protocols while a high performance microcoded RISC Network Processor is used for cell and frame handling at up to 75Mbps switched traffic.
B1 - Virata VC5409PGE
Potentially the same thing as TMS320VC5409 Fixed-Point Digital Signal Processor
From the Datasheet:
The TMS320VC5409 fixed-point, digital signal processor (DSP) (hereafter referred to as the 5409 unless otherwise specified) is based on an advanced modified Harvard architecture that has one program memory bus and three data memory buses. This processor provides an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) with a high degree of parallelism, application-specific hardware logic, on-chip memory, and additional on-chip peripherals. The basis of the operational flexibility and speed of this DSP is a highly specialized instruction set.
B2 - Globspan GS2237-208-001P
Same as ikanos Orion GS2237 - Dual Channel SHDSL Chipset
B3 - Conexant CN8332EXF
Dual E3/DS3/STS-1 Line Interface Unit
B4 - Broadcom QAMLink ADSL/VDSL BCM6010
Assuming its similar to the BCM6020: SCALABLE DSL TRANSCEIVER
C1 - Digital Techniques INC. ICS00NLI-001
Unknown
C2 - IBM B14010PR
Unknown
D1 - Intel Internet Exchange Processor GCIXP1200EB
IXP1200 Network Processor
From the datasheet:
The Intel® IXP1200 Network Processor delivers high-performance processing power and flexibility to a wide variety of LAN and telecommunications products. Distinguishing features of the IXP1200 are the performance of ASIC hardware along with programmability of a microprocessor.
Integrated StrongARM Core — High-performance, low-power, 32-bit Embedded RISC processor
D2 - Sicom Incorporated SD7060ES
Unknown, potentially Engineering Samples
D3 - Agere Systems Metro OptiX 1289AS
Unknown, most likely a Networking SoC related to CityStream. “With Agere's chips at the heart of CityStream, Metro-Optix can offer a scalable, multi-protocol, multi-service solution with combined voice, Internet and other data services.” _________________ Check out my microscope picture of silicon dies and other things on my Instagram account!

SD7060 is a Programmable Digital Demodulator Chip
It is paired with the SM7060 Modulator.
Datasheet for the modulator is here: https://www.datasheetarchive.com/pdf/download/distributors/Datasheets-309/43344.pdf?h=a492e01e554f7faec54d9f16fe5621d9%3Aa8e9fd29eb7b%3A867a39028057dbd0ba633a0c83111ecb
SM/SD 7060 refers to a project researched and in development in the broadband wireless applications area. This two chip
set (modulator and demodulator) design will provide complete modem functionality. The chips will be highly programmable
which allows use in a wide range of broadband wireless Point-to-Point (PTP) products ranging from very low capacity
(less than 45 Mbps) up to 1 Gbps (Gigabytes per second). This chipset is expected to be the first programmable broadband
wireless modem chipset on the market targeted at PTP applications.
At December 28, 2001, all of these in-process R&D projects had either completed all phases of design, development and
testing or had been discontinued. No future development expenses are anticipated for these projects.
It is an Engineering Sample from before Intersil bought Sicom _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
