The Weitek XL-8236/8237 were a Raster Image processor pair used in some early graphics solutions and laser printers (some early APple laser printers).


The XL-8236 is a 22-bit code sequencer. It has a 33x32bit on chip stack, 32-bit programmable timer, status register, interupts, etc

The 8237 is the RISC architecture image processor.
The 8237 contains a full 32-bit integer ALU and a four port 36x32 bit register file, as well as a MULT/DIV/SHIFT unit

They can be interfaced optionally with the XL-3232 FPU for added performance
