Hi. I'm totally confused. I have just bought a couple of Xeon E7-8880v4 CPU's and a SuperMicro X10DRU-i+ motherboard from a seller. He assures me that the CPU and motherboard sockets are compatible, both being type LGA2011-3, but on this CPU World website and elsewhere on the web, I have seen people saying that the CPU is an LGA2011-1 type socket. I have also contrarily had someone on an Intel forum tell me it's an LGA2011-3 type. Intel themselves won't give me any information because these sockets aren't supported anymore, and SuperMicro won't even allow me to ask the question of compatibility because apparently my having a hotmail.com email account is below them, and their support page won't let me ask them the question using that email address. Does anyone know, for certain, and could you please let me know how you can be sure of whatever socket type it is that you suggest it is?

It is 2011-1. Only 16xx, 26xx, and 46xx v3/v4 are LGA2011-3.

Thanks, i think I’ll claim a refund from the seller for false advertising re the CPU’s and get myself some that fit the motherboard. That will be a lot cheaper and easier than trying to find a motherboard to fit the E7’s I think.

Yeah good idea haha, unfortunately it's really hard to find a standalone motherboard for Xeon E7.
