|
|
I am going to sell this unique CRAY "PCPU"chip on Ebay.
It appears to be a production/test sample and it may be the rarest chip I have in my collection.
"Known discrepancy from Manufacturer" and "PCPU 023" is handwritten on the top. "0119" may be the Date code?
I hope a fellow member here becomes the new owner. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

I'm sorry, but I made a bad typo.
The correct auction number is: 196450542789
It sold today for $99. I was hoping it would sell for more since I've never seen another CRAY supercomputer processor chip offered anywhere before this one. _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

|
|
I managed to acquire two Cray supercomputer chips recently.
One says CRI (Cray Research Institute) and PVT TMTC, and I am certain it is from a T90.
The other says Weaver SC, Cray Inc, IBM, and ESD, and has a date code of 2004.
I am not yet sure what Cray computer it was used in.
(I got them both from an estate sale that provided no information) |

here is a photo of the T90 board
the left side has surface-mounted silicon dies in-between the CPU sockets
the right side (green) is a power module
it is very heavy, weighs 8 lbs (vs. 2 lbs for the board) |

Those are nice Cray items and I'm sure there aren't too many of these found in private collections! _________________ My collection list (growing) http://johnorun.x86-guide.com/en/collection.html |

I lucked-out... it must have been an engineer's estate sale.
Not only did I get two T90 boards, and that Cray Weaver SC module (memory?), but also a box full of other vintage computing, not only Cray.
It included an ETA-10 processor block from an ETA Systems computer (they were a spin-off from Control Data), two Cray SV2 MCMs [aka X1, one complete, one a 'dummy'], a Cray-3 test module [yellow and black wiring, not blue and white] -- and two posters showing T90 parts, and another showing SV2 parts.
And then some other small parts and bits that I am still researching... two boards full of Intebrid chips that I believe is also Control Data, and two power connector jaws (with pogo pins contacts) for the T90.
As a historian collector this was a gift of manna!
some day, when I have the time, I will post photos here of the rest of my haul
but don't have Photoshop, so making them small enough for the cpu-world constraints is a challenge |
