Hi there,
does someone have an older BIOS version than 0104 for the ASUS P2L97-DS?
on the web are avialable:
lxds0104.zip
lxds0105.zip
lxds0106.zip
lxds1001.zip
lxds1005.zip
lxds1008.zip
furthermore I have a special version:
vmp 107-4 * ASUS P2L97-D
I need an older version with Pentium Pro (unofficial support) microcode incl.
I want to build a SMP Pentium Pro system with the help of two Asus Socket 8 to Slot 1 converters.
There must be an earlier or an original version, maybe 0101 or 0102
I know two people from Germany and America, who had such a system years ago. But booth people cant remember which BIOS version they used..
I hope someone has this board or has a back up from an earlier BIOS version
thx a lot...Markus

| Have you tried running a PPro in it yet? Or are you assuming you'll need an earlier version? I've dropped PPro adapters into random PII systems before and never had an issue, except in some OEM HP systems, they gave me the middle finger when trying to run with a PPro before. |

Yes of course I tried the PPro CPUs. When I use BIOS ver. DS0104, DS0105 and DS0106 it posts and show me the CPU type and frequency, than it freezes. When I use higher versions, it only shows the BIOS ver. and freezes.
I also own the single Slot 1 board ASUS P2L97-S. There a PPro runs fine, but only with BIOS version S0102.
There must be an earlier BIOS version for the P2L97-DS, because DS0104 was the first BIOS update.
Cheers
Markus
Btw:
I also tried BIOS patcher or CBROM.exe to add PPro microcode the the BIOS, but it does not work. |

I did some searching around, and earliest I could find anywhere is 0104. Maybe the earlier versions never made it out of the factory and were pre-releases?

I guess the first P2l97-DS boards which came out on the market, had earlier (factory) BIOS versions than 0104.
I know two people who had a Dual Pentium Pro running with the ASUS convertes on an ASUS P2L97-DS. Booth dont remember and they sold their systems. So there must be a solution...
I hope someone has such a board or saved the old BIOS on a floppy or harddisk.
Or someone has great connections to ASUS..hehe. Maybe ASUS has this version somewhere left |
