Anyone is using cryptocurrency over hardware wallet ?
I'm watching tutorials about Trezor wallets.
How that would work to make small transfers between collectors for collectable items like chips ? Would it be enough good for that (low fees) ? |

It can work very well but only if both of you, Seller and Buyer, already use Crypto, otherwise then whoever is not using Crypto needs to do some research, enter the system and get used.
Fees can be negligible, though it depends on the Cryptocurrency you are using, and you may have to account for market price variations and Conversion Fees if you are asked to pay in a Cryptocurrency you don't usually use.
I don't use a Hardware Wallet like Trezor but that is definitively not needed to use Crypto and the principle remains the same.
If I buy things from you then I would be happy to pay in Crypto ! As long as it is not one of these MêmeCoins...
You give me an Address, I send you the amount in the correct Currency/Network and we are done. _________________ Stelo.xyz Museum (CPU Collection and more) |

I will never use crypto. I lost more than £30,000 worth of bitcoin because I had the password for my online wallet stored on a floppy disc (this was many years ago) that deteriorated with age, and the company the wallet was stored with (I no longer remember who they were) told me they couldn't do anything to help recover it. I'll never trust that type of currency again, I have never had the sort of money that could absorb that kind of loss _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

This is exactly why I think this kind of crypto will not take off. They say "be your own bank", but do you really want to be your own bank? You lose your password and your money is gone. You transmit the money to a wrong account and the money is gone.
In the end crypto is just banking with extra steps, because most people will keep their crypto on an exchange. So... at a bank. |

Don't get me wrong, I understand why crypto appeals to a lot of people, I've just been badly affected by an issue that only happened because of it being so secure before I understood online security _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Thanks for comments and sorry to hear that Debs you lost so much valuable coins.
Most of us has heard about this guy who is still trying to find his HDD : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin_buried_in_Newport_landfill
I'm totally newbie but from that what I heard about Trezor hardware wallet is safe until you will not loose your small paper with key words. Exchange where you bought and transfered coins to wallet can be down, you can lost or damage this wallet and you can still recovery account on other wallet.
I think everyone have different point of view depends on where he live. From my point of view I think to decide and move a part (not really much) of savings to hardware wallet and get some experience how to use it everyday - not from investing like wolf from wallstreet
If there is a need for a radical change of place of residence (I hope not, but due to the geographical location I cannot rule it out), such a thing can save a life, or at least provide a certain fresh start.
I know it is risky buisness but Black Rock has entered to Bitcoin this year for a serious ammount so it is chance value will not fall down to 0
@Chips Which currency is cheap and in same time popular for making small transfers between same crypto users ? Which exchange site is your favourite if I can ask And surely we can do payments between us if I will open my wallet. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

It will not change anything if a given Cryptocurrency is cheap or not. If one Coin is worth $0.000001 but you need to pay 10000000 Coins in Fees then sure that Cryptocurrency is cheap but Fees are horrible Lol
BTC Transaction Fees are maybe something like 10-30 cents nowadays, ETH and ERC20 Tokens are the worst and cost several $ for a transfer, Binance Smart Chain (BSC) Transactions cost about 10 cents, and Iirc Polygon Chain Transaction Fees are negligible. I considered Fees when sending directly from one's own Wallet, in all cases, Exchanges may charge more, though.
USD StableCoins on BSC, Polygon or some other Chains are safe bets. Personally, I just go with the good old Bitcoin even though it is not the cheapest unless you can use the Lightning Network, which is the ideal. I doubt that your Wallet supports this though...
It seems that you also believe in Bitcoin so you can simply convert some of your savings to Bitcoins as a starting point, and then convert your BTC to something else if needed when you pay something in Crypto. If the Seller accepts Bitcoin then just use your BTC.
Well, my favorite Exchanges are those that allow trading my favorite Currency Riecoin :p (but not popular enough yet, not even supported by your Wallet)
There was one among these that I would have strongly recommended, but it got hacked and can no longer be trusted -_- . It was really good until that event and I even used it for a Forum Sale here, giving a Deposit Address as it was very convenient to then convert to whatever I wanted and withdraw.
Else, I have good experience with MexC so far but any top tier Exchange will do.
In all cases, don't put too much money on Exchanges. Only use them to perform conversions or invest and quickly withdraw.
And yes as long as you have access to or remember your Seed Phrase, you will be safe even if your Hardware Wallet breaks or something. You can always reimport the Wallet somewhere else. Though if you lose that Seed Phrase and your Trezor then that will be the same story as Debs, so remain careful. _________________ Stelo.xyz Museum (CPU Collection and more) |

Thans for confirmation and additional informations @CHips. Seed phrases are same safe as cash, physical gold & stones. IMHO safer than all nowadays services in "clouds".
Propably I will start with BTC and something else this year just to have experience. I remember how PayPal was space technology 20 years ago _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

| I’ve been using a Trezor with Metamask and Solana wallets for a while now, mostly to store SOL and NFTs. For small trades or transfers between collectors, like chips or other digital collectibles, it works fine, but hardware wallets can feel a bit clunky if you’re doing frequent transfers, since you need to confirm each transaction physically. Fees on Solana are super low, way better than ETH for micro-transactions. For stuff like collectibles, Solana is actually a great option because it's fast and cheap, and you can move tokens without stressing about fees stacking up. If you're planning to trade Solana-based tokens and want more exposure or better liquidity, you can try to increase token visibility on raydium. That can help connect your token to more collectors and pools if you ever go beyond just collecting. |
