Quote:
As of January 1, 2026, international regulations prohibit sending goods in registered letters (foreign mail), limiting their content to documents, correspondence, and non-commercial items. Registered letters remain a secure, tracked option for documents and high-value items, with domestic use still allowing valuable items.

Key details:
International Restrictions: Registered letters containing goods intended for abroad are no longer accepted by postal operators and will be returned to the sender.
Permissible Content (International): Documents, photos, and information-carrying media with no commercial value.
Alternative Shipping: Goods should be sent via postal parcels, EMS, or Global Expres.
Domestic Registered Letters: Still permitted for sending valuable items and documents, offering Tracking and signatures.

Do you have same rules in your country ?

By the rules, even our domestic letters are only allowed to contain paper. In practice though I've received quite a few "letters" that weren't. Our postal service seems to be happy so long as you stay within the allowed weights and dimensions. I would never try doing that for international though. You never know if any of the countries on the journey or any of the customs people will take the rules more seriously. I expect letters are a lot easier to screen with an x-ray machine and AI than parcels, and it would be easy to flag and reject anything that didn't look like paper in a letter, and this is part of why sending letters is cheaper.

Yup, I think xray + AI will do the job and letters will be returned with additional postage for that service. I will not take a risk anymore but thankfuly there is a Global Expres service. Quite more expensive but still a much cheaper option than regular packages. Expres only from thename bacause last time when I shipped to Germany (ca. 500km in straight line) tool 5 working days.
