mmmm...not to contradict but ,I've seen instances where the "B"in D768B ,stands for second and not first.I've got several chips that it is the case.I was once fooled in thinking I was buying the first, where it was not because of that initial.
...just a note.

| There was earlier 16-bit CPU from NEC but it wasn't single chip. Two chips were uPD755 ALU and register set and uPD756 microprogram control unit. |
