Now here's something I thought about for awhile...

Charging a one time membership fee.Something like $0.50 to $1.00...
This would help keep the site alive I'm sure, and plus, make everyone here a little more secure about who's registering on here(spammer's).

I know I don't own the site, but I would love it if everyone would help me keep it going ,if I owned one simular.
I'm willing to put my $ in it .

Yepp, a secret cult, in a hidden forum somewhere where the members melt down early Intel engineering samples and sacrifices them to the all mighty cpu god. Wink

Bad idea, especially for someone who doesn't own this site.

It would keep away a lot of potential new, and maybe interesting members...

If gshv asks for $ help, shure. I get a lot from this forum, but as long as no one complains its better not to make the forum a money issue. And is there REALLY a problem with the spammers? A couple of threads a week (+ those removed by mods) does not bother me. And as Mixeur said, closing the forum to a member only site will certainly not help this hobby grow.

I say no. I'm sure Genna wouldn't say no to any donations, but as said by others, it would put some people off if there was a compulsory payment, however small. Plus if a spammer pays, would it be so easy to delete their account?

I'm against any membership fees, and donations too. The site pays for itself and the forum, I don't even need to put any ads in the forum. I'd like to keep the forum free and ad-free as long as possible.

Gennadiy bought a few chips from me in the sale/trade forum. I gave him a small discount on the deal out of appreciation for the CPU-World site. I was surprised to hear I was the first one to ever do this. Shocked

Gennadiy is specifically not asking for donations. I hope everyone here says "thankyou" for CPU-World every once in a while when you deal with him.
